California’s Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide a warning on products that may contain one or more of the chemicals on the Proposition 65 list. These warnings can be required even when the substances are present at very small levels, including levels that may be below limits set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Some Bioedge Sciences products may carry a Proposition 65 warning because trace amounts of naturally occurring heavy metals, such as lead, can be present in soil and water where plant-based ingredients are grown. These trace levels are not added to our products. They can occur naturally in many foods and crops.

It is important to understand that a Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe. California’s warning thresholds can be significantly stricter than standards used by many other health authorities, and Proposition 65 warnings are not enforced in the same way outside California.
